Opening Reception Saturday May 19, 6-9 PM

After working 25 years  running galleries, and rubbing elbows with hundreds of artists ,
this work shows what rubbed off.
Meet the artist and enjoy music and refreshments

Philip Schurman has been a stone sculptor for over 35 years, receiving a BFA from Pomona College. He has shown his work throughout the Bay Area and has sold his work to private collectors. His work is primarily abstract figurative, expressing human interaction and emotion. He works with many different
varieties of stone including alabaster, serpentine, soapstone and marble from all over the world. Most of his work is done with hand tools. Philip often looks at the rough stone to suggest a form that will be released from within. He loves stone’s tactile quality, its richness and variations
in color and texture that comes to life in its final stages
in the creation of form.

Valerie  Sobel

opens a window on a fantasy world inhabited by dreamlike creatures, plants and other living organisms whose

portraits lend themselves to closer examination, inviting you to step into, and, if if  you are willing to, lose

yourself in, the fanciful, eerie, and often contemplative microcosms of her personal world.

Come take a stroll into that world at Giorgi Gallery on Saturday, March 10  5-9pm

Show runs  Mar 10 thru April 1
